A dark and arid hellscape inspired by the likes of Metroid Prime and Dark Souls, Vomitoreum is an FPS Metroidvania set in an interconnected and nightmarish world.

Explore a land that has been plagued with an eldritch infection, a horrible fog that blankets the world and turns it’s denizens into wretched mutants. Delve deep into the ruins of this plagued world and find a cure for this horrid blight.

You are the Nephilem, a vessel born of cosmic ash and the churning souls trapped within graves. Created as a being able to survive the hellish environment and search for a way to make the fog recede, you will scour the lands in search of tools and weaponry that will be useful on your journey.

The Nephilem’s end goal is to make the infection and the fog recede, destroy the horrible demons plaguing the land, and let life flourish once again.

Vomitoreum has a world inspired by the painting of Zdzisław Beksiński; intense combat; challenging but fair gameplay; and a world waiting to be explored! Rise from the grave factory and see what Vomitoreum has lying in wait for you!

  • Grotesque pixel art to bring these wretched demons and hellscapes to life.
  • Atmospheric world inspired by Zdzislaw Beksinski's Paintings.
  • Challenging but fair gameplay.
  • Movement and mobility that consistently re-contextualizes previously explored areas.
  • Minimalist combat encounters, focused on "moment-to-moment" encounter design.
  • A vast and interconnected world.
  • Secrets and environmental story telling around every corner.
  • World-building and lore, hidden within the cracks and crevices of the world.
  • Challenging bosses to test the player's limits.

GZDoom GPLv3 Requires Source Code Release

I haven't seen any links or information (or even a proper website) to ask for or obtain the source code.

Under the terms of GPLv3, I am requesting public access to the source code as required under the terms of the GZDoom license. Please post the public link to the full source code, preferably with build instructions and dependencies specified in as much detail as possible.

I find it disappointing that someone making a mod built on open-source code would not only commercialize it but fail to properly release source code that the license requires.

I did the Linux port of this game on Steam. here's what I used. https://github.com/coelckers/ZMusic/releases/tag/1.1.3

https://github.com/coelckers/gzdoom/releases/tag/g4.6.0

The source code for the Windows executable can be downloaded here:

https://github.com/coelckers/gzdoom/releases/tag/g4.3.3

This game does not use a patched or modified version of gzdoom for either Linux or Windows so this source code is identical to the code used to create the binaries.

hope this helps lmao.

Thank you very much.  The link to the source code (or this information) really should be posted publicly in a more accessible fashion, however this suffices as far as license requirements.

do you mean for the gzdoom build itself? im 90% sure thats the same as normal gzdoom with like one minor tweak to the window name?? as for the game assets and code itself, i dont think the same license applies to stuff like mods and standalones made for gzdoom, since they can technically run under other source ports. also it should be noted that all wad and pk3s are technically open source (paying to get the file i guess might not count), since nothing aside from the ACS scripts are compiled.

Enjoyed it and finished it in one sitting of 5 hours or so.

2 things could use some work:

- the bosses difficulty balance is a bit off for me. the two sisters gave me a headache, the other bosses don't.

- some areas are reachable, but when you jump there, you die instantly.

That's it. Good game, get it if you're into this kinda stuff!

Loved the demo so went ahead and purchaced the full game! 😀 I love the nostalgia feel yet it's new! and the whole Doom meets fantasy Dark souls RPG thing is pretty cool!

Took me a minute to work out how to get it working under Linux. I installed the latest GZDoom on my machine (4.6.1 at the time of writing) and then navigated to the directory and just ran "gzdoom". You don't need to specify anything with the -file flag or anything.

The store page currently doesn't list platforms, is the Linux version that Steam has included in the download ?

Great aesthetic and fun world to explore. The difficulty is a bit on the easy side and the whole experience is quite short, as it can be beaten in a little under three hours, though it is a possibility I missed a secret area if one exists. I am not personally bothered by game length but since this is being charged as a product it should be mentioned. Overall I had my fun with it and I can see myself coming back for a replay every now and then. Good stuff.

Finally released, eh? Brilliant stuff!

Wooo! I've been waiting for this one! Gonna get it on Steam ASAP.
